Ararat Eagles continue to dominate in the Certain Losers Stakes, this week going down to Worndoo Mortlake 31.25-211 to 0.1-1.

Ararat: There were plenty of positives to take out of the game for the much-maligned Eagles this week. The scoreboard is an overrated measure as it never tells the whole story. Among other things, we measure ourselves on the quality of the 1/4 time oranges, and they were just superb this week.

You know that I'd never do anything to criticise the administration of this competition, but can I suggest that the new feture which tells us who has already selected a team gives late tipsters an advantage over the early birds. Tipping early is like playing cards against someone who know's what's in your hand, while you don't know whats in his. I prophesy that if things get tight at the top toward the end of the year there will be stand-offs to see who can hold off to the latest moment. The PM & I wouldn't like to see the BBACLS come down to a unegalitarian contest of who has the fastest internet connection. IMHO the veil of tipping secrecy should be maintained until the end of each round. - [April 30th 2009] |

AAP: |
AAP is this morning reporting that UTS Bats’ stalwart Anthony Leach has been dropped to the Reserves after just one Senior Grade game. Sources close to the Club believe Leach’s axing is discipline related and comes following his recent visit to Adelaide.
The Advertiser’s Michelangelo Rucci has this morning reported that Leach was spotted at the notorious Hindley Street district in the early hours of Thursday morning. Whilst reports are sketchy at this stage, there is a widespread belief that Leach and a member of party were involved in an incident with security staff and another patron in which resulted in a number of people being ejected from an “adult entertainment” premises and two people being admitted to Royal Adelaide Hospital. Police are believed to be investigating the incident.
UTS Bats President Scott Baker has stated that there will be a full investigation and added that, “The Club is very disappointed in Leach’s conduct. We have spoken to him previously about the dangers of Hindley Street and from him to be out at that late hour is unacceptable. The Club had no choice but to drop him this week.”
Leach was unavailable for comment. - [For Immediate Release] |

UTS Bats President Scott Baker says that there's been real excitement around the rooms this week. "Yeah, young Anthony Leach finally gets his opportunity. The boys feel that the injection of youth and enthusiasm will really give them a lift this week." Leach was a controversial pick-up in the 2001 draft, taken early by the Bats at number 84. "I know that the club has had concerns over the years about my diet and fitness regime. But I think that there's no doubt I have a beautiful pair of hands and that more than compensates for my lack of speed and agility," Leach, originally recruited from Box Hill, said. We wish him well for the all important clash against the highly rated Southern Sharks. Check your local guides for details. - [For Immediate Release] |

Tiwi Islands Old Boys? You idiot, Boydy! By the way I am also adding Southern Sharks to my certain losers. The Sharks play the Bats this weekend and after 5 and a half seasons at the Bats, Leachy has finally cracked it for a game in the ones! - [June 15th 2007] |

Looking forward to the Hawks vs Bombers at the G. Sheedy has been beating up the Hawks tactics in the forward line. Typical Sheedy. He is good for the game but hopefully the Hawks will turn it on to stick it right up him. - [May 4th 2007] |

The BBACL round is upon us. Anyone care to make a wager on Saturday arvo at Subiaco? - [May 19th 2006] |

I think that it's been a pretty tough tipping season. Our current SHAT leader (Limmers) is on 36, and a couple of points clear. The overall footytips.com.au leader is on 44 (out of 56) if you can believe it. Banterers have certainly loaded up on the CL's this week - perhaps hopeful of a more predictable round. (Nobody has even tipped a 7 this season, let alone pulling off the round) - [May 19th 2006] |

Get to the new MCG ASAP. It is sensational. But I can't understand why the new Northern Stand has been re-named the Olympic Stand. Unlike the 1956 model, the 2006 stand has nothing to do with the Olympic Games. It should be called the Barassi Stand. - [April 27th 2006] |

Clash jumpers.
The AFL has a policy on Clash jumpers, they should enforce it. The team who creates a clash, resolves the clash. Brisbane wore clash jumpers their first 4 years, because they looked too much like Hawthorn. This policy should be retained. - [April 24th 2006] |

Welcome back to BBACLs for season 2006. The Banter Box is a new initiative for you to add comments re your selections or anything else you would like. I expect that over the course of the season it will chronicle the ups and downs of MoPsy's StKilda experiences.
Also you will see a new page layout (on the right) for this year, which better utilises Mero's jumper work.
Good luck with your tipping! - [February 1st 2006] |
